Education Rights Campaign (ERC)
Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria
Education Rights Campaign (ERC) was formed by the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM) in 2004 to campaign for provision of a free, functional and democratically-managed education. We campaign against fee hike, poor studying and living conditions. We are against victimization of student activists, ban of unions and other attacks on democratic rights. We stand for adequate funding of education. We also argue for the nationalization of the commanding heights of the economy under workers' control and management. We support education workers in their demands on pay and conditions. We campaign for students to build their unions as a democratic and mass-based fighting organ with a bold leadership that is accountable to students. We campaign for students to reclaim NANS as their own platform under their control unlike its current status as the youth wing of anti-poor political parties. Our method of campaigning includes lobbying, petitioning, media campaign, rallies, protests, boycotts and demonstrations. You can join us and also assist our work by donating to the campaign.
